# Zelensky at the UN: Putin Is “Patient Zero”

Zelensky opened his UN speech by quoting Trump. Then he gave Vladimir Putin a new name: patient zero.
On 23 September Volodymyr Zelensky read Donald Trump's post that Russia had lost control of its diesel industry, its refineries blown up, and said: "And this is true. Russia messed up." A day earlier Trump had told the same hall he would "get that one done". Zelensky's answer was a number: 248,964 Russian troops killed or badly wounded from January to August, he says, for just over a thousand square kilometres. Then: "He is patient zero ... That is why patient zero must be stopped."
