# Trump Said He Might Annihilate Iran. Ghana's President Answered at the UN

Two days after Donald Trump told the UN he might annihilate Iran, Ghana's president stood at the same podium: "No human civilization deserves to be annihilated."
On 22 September Trump told the General Assembly that he was weighing a deal with Iran, or whether to "annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly." On 24 September John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, called for a return to the negotiating table and added: "No human civilization deserves to be annihilated, and certainly not a member of the United Nations." He did not name Trump. He also said the UN Charter must reign supreme "over the cynical doctrine that might makes right", and that Security Council reform "is not a favor to Africa".
