The US Mint listed the Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump 2026 $1 coin at $61.00 for a 25-coin roll, which is $2.44 a coin, and it went to backorder the same evening.
Five weeks earlier the same Mint charged $61.00 for a roll of American Innovation $1 coins honouring Minnesota and mobile refrigeration. Same price, to the cent. $61 is simply what a 2026 dollar roll costs.
The price was never the anomaly. The supply was.

Claim: On 2 September 2026 at noon ET the United States Mint listed the Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump 2026 $1 Coin at $61.00 for a 25-coin roll ($2.44 a coin) and $154.50 for a 100-coin bag ($1.545 a coin), and by that evening the page read backorder. Those are not Trump prices — they are the Mint's standard 2026 dollar-coin roll and bag prices, identical to the cent to what it charged five weeks earlier for the American Innovation $1 honouring Minnesota. What was unusual was never the price but the supply: roughly ten times a normal roll allocation, and four days later both SKUs still read "Currently Unavailable." Angle: every outlet led with the markup, or with "sold out in hours." The markup is the Mint's list price for any 2026 dollar roll, nothing was capped (the product page says Mintage Limit: None), and the state has since moved against the 09-03 stories — you still cannot buy one from the government at any price.
