More than 100 delegates walked out as Benjamin Netanyahu took the UN podium. His first words to them: "If there are any other moral cowards who haven't yet left this hall, please do so now."
Later in the 24 September speech he turned to New York's mayor: "Mr. Mamdani, since you were elected mayor of this city, many Jews no longer feel safe in New York," and "you tried to silence me. Well, you can't silence me." Zohran Mamdani answered in a written statement, calling the speech "baseless lies meant to sanitize his genocide of Palestinians", and pointed to the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for Netanyahu, issued in November 2024. Israel rejects the court's jurisdiction.
