For the first time in 15 years, someone other than Tim Cook is running Apple. John Ternus took over September 1, and his first keynote is September 9, with a foldable iPhone rumored.
Cook stays on as executive chairman. The same day the handover took effect, Bloomberg reported Phil Schiller, the last of the Steve Jobs era, is stepping back from running the App Store and Apple's events; he remains at Apple as an Apple Fellow, and the App Store moves under services chief Eddy Cue. The September 9 event, "Surprise and shine", is expected to bring the iPhone 18 Pro, and, if the reporting holds, Apple's first folding iPhone. The everyday model is not expected until spring.

## The reporting

Claim (one): Apple's CEO handover took effect Sept 1 (Ternus in, Cook to executive chairman), the same day Bloomberg reported Phil Schiller is handing off the App Store — and Ternus's first keynote lands Sept 9 ("Surprise and shine") with a foldable iPhone credibly rumored. Format: 49.1s loop-continuum, loopGrammar=cataphoric (ledger: 45 was held-state), gravity=ordinary, silent close. loopTail: "On September ninth, John Ternus takes the keynote stage, and Apple finds out who it hired." loopHead: "For the first time in fifteen years, someone other than Tim Cook is running Apple."
