On 5 September 2026 US Central Command said it struck three Iranian crude oil carriers after the IRGC fired at two US Navy warships. Adm. Brad Cooper's statement puts a rate in writing: if you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.
The fleet that rate prices has a countable size. 64 vessels tied to Iran's state tanker line sit on the Treasury's SDN list, 45 of them crude carriers.
Then the ships stop fitting the sentence. Two of the three were empty. And the one CENTCOM says it destroyed outright, the M/T Kylo, IMO 9189146, returns zero rows on that list.
ALL STRIKE DETAILS ARE CENTCOM'S ACCOUNT, UNCONFIRMED INDEPENDENTLY. THE IRGC SAYS BOTH U.S. WARSHIPS WERE HIT. EVERY PICTURE HERE IS CENTCOM'S OWN RELEASE.

## The reporting

Claim: On Saturday 5 September 2026 U.S. Central Command said it struck three Iranian crude oil carriers after the IRGC fired ballistic missiles at a U.S. aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer. In the same statement Adm. Brad Cooper published an exchange rate — "If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost — taking out three of yours" — and the fleet that rate prices has a public, countable size: 64 vessels on the U.S. Treasury's SDN list linked to Iran's state tanker line, 45 of them crude oil tankers. Nobody was reported killed, on either side. Angle: every outlet led with the strike or with the "destroy Iran's oil fleet" headline. Nobody led with the arithmetic — that the United States announced a price in ships, three for two, forty-eight hours after the Vice President said there was "no active shooting" and one day after the President called a six-month war "small potatoes." Verdict: BUILDABLE. Six beats, ~59s, loop-continuum, gravity='counting' (silent sign-off, held-state ring, no exceptions).

## ⚠ The slate's angle did NOT survive the frame check — rewritten, not softened

The slate proposed: "On 2026-09-05 the target list moved to the CARGO — three crude carriers — and the CENTCOM commander said the US will 'destroy Iran's oil fleet'… and US diesel hit a record high the same week." Three defects, all fatal as written: MISQUOTE. Cooper said "and if necessary, destroy Iran's limited and exposed oil fleet" — a conditional. The unconditional vow is Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's, a different official. The Fox headline EHlHjaLi4TY collapses them; inheriting it puts Hegseth's words in an admiral's mouth. THE TARGET LIST MOVED THREE DAYS EARLIER. The US first struck Iranian government tankers on Tuesday 2 September (NITC Sinopa and Hawk, off Jask) under a "tanker for tanker" policy pre-approved by the President. 5 September is round two, and it is a different ratio. IT DID NOT MOVE TO THE CARGO — TWO OF THE THREE SHIPS WERE EMPTY. CENTCOM calls the Kylo "unladen"; TankerTrackers' satellite imagery says the Downy was "in ballast and carrying no oil cargo." Only Stark 1 is reported laden. They struck the hulls, not the oil. CHRONOLOGY. The diesel record was set Friday 4 September (AAA), and on a second series Thursday 3 September (GasBuddy). The strikes were Saturday 5 September. The record came first. The real unled fact is natively a counting story that needs no diesel causation at all, so the diesel beat is deliberately absent from this cut (see script.md § What is deliberately NOT in this cut).

## Verified, with source and date

The strike, as CENTCOM tells it — one belligerent's account What is NOT CENTCOM's account — the independent and Iranian material The fleet, on the Treasury's own list — the count the reel turns on The two officials, and the two titles The two quotes the reel does not run, and why they still bind The clock, the war, and the dead Hormuz and Iranian exports — contested, and not in the cut The diesel firebreak — verified, and deliberately NOT in this cut "Blockade" and "economic warfare" — corrected against the brief The footage, and its provenance

## Unled facts — what the verifiers surfaced that nobody ran

Two of the three tankers were empty, and the one destroyed outright is not on the Treasury's list at all. The 5 September strikes did not destroy Iran's oil; they destroyed Iran's ships, by hitting engine rooms, with no fire, no spill and nobody killed. Underneath it is a countable fleet: 64 NITC-linked vessels, 45 of them crude tankers. At three ships per exchange that is twenty-one more Saturdays. Everyone led with four words — "I wouldn't call it a war." Nobody led with what the Vice President said thirty seconds later: the war ends when Iran stops shooting at ships, and the United States will not speak to Iran until Iran stops. A stated end-condition with no channel to deliver it. "Diesel hits a record" depends entirely on whose number you use, and the U.S. government's own series shows no record at all. GasBuddy 3 Sept, AAA 4 Sept, EIA down 5.3 cents and eleven cents below its 2022 high. The one thing all three agree on is that nothing in the number happened on 5 Sept — and nothing can have, because the first official price that could contain the strikes does not exist until Tuesday 8 September.

## Angle, in one sentence

Nobody led with the arithmetic: on Saturday the United States published an exchange rate denominated in ships, three of Iran's for two shots at its warships, and the fleet that rate prices is a public list of sixty four hulls — the precision is the story, and the ships it took were mostly empty.

## Loop pair

loopHead — "Three ships for two shots. America put that price in writing on Saturday." loopTail — "Sixty four hulls are still on that list, and nobody has been reported killed, on either side. The rate has not changed." Held-state ring, as gravity=counting requires: the close states the standing condition, the open quantifies it. Read tail into head aloud and it is one paragraph — "…The rate has not changed. Three ships for two shots. America put that price in writing on Saturday." Tense ring is close-present into open-past, so the wrap reads consequence into cause. No sentence in the script could only be last.
